The photographic style of Peter van Stralen is quite direct and simple. Having been strongly influenced by graphic design he enjoys playing with shapes and forms using the dancer as his muse. Since the beginnings of his photographic career he has been convinced that less usually means a whole lot more.

The photographic style of Peter van Stralen is quite direct and simple. Having been strongly influenced by graphic design he enjoys playing with shapes and forms using the dancer as his muse. Since the beginnings of his photographic career he has been convinced that less usually means a whole lot more.

Both form and composition play and important role in Peter's work and he feels the use of color would distract too heavily from the essential qualities of his images. Deliberating forming his vision in a space-less environment he regards his dancers as 'interpreters' to a visual language of beauty, passion, and sensuality. About STRALEN


From 1979 until 1984 Peter van Stralen studied to become a graphic designer at the Academy of Arts in The Netherlands. During this study his interest in photography was awakened. Since then he as been working as a photographer whose non commercial activities have mainly been focused on fine art black and white photography.
