The work of Daniel Benoit harkens back to a time that perhaps never really existed except in our own whimsical boyhood memories. It is a time when we could look at the female body not with lust in our eyes, but instead with curiosity, fascination, and a complete sense of innocence.
Daniel Benoit is one of those rare photographers who can capture the female nude from a completely objective vantage point. Part of the draw toward his work is about beauty yes, but an even greater part is about discovering something new. It is as if one where to wonder through the same woods for years and years before one day discovering a new river or pond that was never found before. There is a sense of excitement to be had, a sense of wonder, and perhaps even a sense of secrecy. Does one keep their new discovery to themselves or share it with their friends?
