To truely appreciate the work of Gery Lugar one most pay close attention to the details. Of course, his overall compositions are no doubt beautiful and make for some stunning imagry, it is the little things that really make him shine. The soft upward glance of a models face, the delicate texture of the human hand, the rough quality of the human body when covered in goose bumbs.
For Gery Luger, the purpose of art is to move and affect its audience with a multi-layered complexity. Images are an experiment, a play on colors and textures and the studio takes on the role of a laboratory making each and ever photograph an invention. When describing his own work, Gery usually uses the term 'time documents' instead of photographs to signify their objectivity. Ironically enough, his images tend to have a timeless quality to them bringing out what can only be described as a universal appeal.
