Ao Gunji prefers to work using the least amount of equipment and tools possible. He relies heavily on natural lighting insisting that the body can only properly be portrayed using natures natural elements. It isn't uncommon for him to show up to a photo shoot with only his camera in hand, nothing else. His work contains the kind of excellence that other photographers look at longingly. It seems so effortless and perfect but anyone with some experience behind the lens knows that natural lighting can often be the most challenging to work with due to its lack of control. If you point this out to Ao Gunji however he simply shrugs and continues doing what he does best.
