Hailing from New York City, William Coupon is primarily a portrait photographer whose career spans three decades shooting everything from world leaders, magazine covers, social events, and even the gritty world of fashion and glamour.
William’s first images were photographs that talked – called "audiographs" – which were photographs that had looped cassettes behind a framed image, and photographs that moved – called "kinetographs" – which were photographs that attached to moving motors. The "kinetographs" were commissioned for window displays at Bloomingdales’ in the late 1970’s. Early on in his career, William also documented the legendary Studio 54, and the results were immediately included in the International Center of Photography exhibition Fleeting Gestures: Treasures of Dance Photography
Since that time, William Coupon has been around the world and back again, using his unique vision to influence social change and create memories for the masses.... MORE
