Think sex and the word short is not the one that first comes to mind as optimal. Long, strong and pops up are the adjectives du jour. Mutual adoration, foreplay, the act itself, and the languor the follows are all best if there is time to savour the moment. The only thing you want short is the chase.
But in the world of movies, the values are reversed. Short is the new rock n' roll, the new black. A few years ago you couldn't give a short film away to save your life. Now they are slavered over on airplanes, at the Oscars, in festivals. Give me more shorts, they bray.
Perhaps the reason has nothing to do with art. Rather it is technology that has moved on. Not only is the gear now readily available but it comes cheap and is getting easier... MORE
