As reported by the Associated Press, Spain’s top fashion show has turned away several dozen models on the grounds they are too skinny – a bold move toward turning the fashion industry on a path away from body types said to encourage eating disorders among young girls.
Pageant organizers used a standardized formula to calculate body mass index – a measure of their weight in relation to their height. Nearly 30 percent of the women did not pass according to the Association of Fashion Designers of Spain.
