The widely rumored and highly leaked Nikon D200 has been announced recently by Nikon. All the pre-release rumors seem to have been pretty much on the mark. It has an APS-C sized CCD sensor (1.5x multiplier) with 10 MP. In addition it has all the usual bells and whistles, 5fps continuous shooting for 37 JPEGs (22 NEF/RAW), 2.5" LCD screen. US price is given as $1700 and it will be available (according to Nikon) starting in late December.
There is already a lot of talk from photographers expressing some degree of disappointment with Nikon for not making the D200 a full frame D-SLR. How this will hurt sales (if at all) is anyone's guess but from early specs this writer is willing to bet Nikon has a winner on their hands regardless. Bottom... MORE
