Sigma proved this past week that they aren’t ready to be counted out of the D-SLR market quite yet.
Through the use of a teaser website Sigma has today revealed the existence and name of their next digital SLR. The SD14 will be announced on 26th September (first day of Photokina) and has a 'Full Color Capture Direct Image Sensor' (read as a new Foveon chip).
Hugely popular as a third party lens manufacturer, Sigma's camera body attempts have so far been met with mixed reviews. Perhaps one of the more innovative ideas in the digital camera market, Sigma's use of the Foveon chip has a short list of devoted fans, a number that could possibly grow if supported by a higher quality camera.
