News is spreading around the internet like wildfire about a rumored compact digital SLR from Nikon called the D40.
If the camera does indeed exist, it will no doubt be set at the bottom end of the price spectrum competing with the European only Olympus E-400 and perhaps the Pentax K110D.
Rumors have run the gamut from speculation that the D40 will replace the D50, to early specs putting the D40 as the world’s smallest digital SLR. So far Nikon has been very tight lipped, though in the past early internet buzz has only helped to improve sales once a camera is actually released.
It seems safe to speculate that the D40 will be a 6 mega-pixel digital SLR with a very aggressive price point (somewhere in the range of $500 USD). Early... MORE
