Though Volker Lang chooses to work within the medium of the nude, his images often see beyond the simple concept of 'naked' and instead toward an ideal of beauty, form, and femininity. He creates a world that is as close to perfect as the human mind is capable of and works within well defined standards of beauty, refining them, and making them complete.
Volker Lang began photographing the nude in 2001 and has always concentrated his eye on the fine art nude. The genre created a unique challenge for him and he is always drawn to its unlimited possibilities. Every individual who stands in front of his lens is different and every one of them is beautiful, it is up to Volker to find that quality and portray it on film.
In order to accomplish his goal, Volker Lang often varies his technique from image to image. Some of his photographs can be taken as straight portraits of his subjects while others are more abstract and anonymous. For Volker Lang, it is the subtle details that can often tell a story.
