Australian Ian Pool insists his models' faces are everything to him, yet his works are quite often embellished with a touch of nudity. It adds a little something.
"I have never been interested in anything but portraiture ... to capture a raw essence in a person is my ultimate goal and to share that with the world is my dream," says the emerging Brisbane-based photographer, who has chosen to be known professionally as IcPooL.
"My main aim is to bring out something emotive in every subject. For me, the focus is the face. The eyes. I do love to have the aspect of nudity to add that spice. But I really do like the viewer to empathize with what the model is thinking. Nakedness is not the selling point. It is one ingredient that makes an image work."
IcPooL, who says photography is "a constant source of joy", has benefited considerably from his wife Jean-Maree's experience as a muse for numerous painters.... MORE
