Dave Rudin can't remember the first time he picked up a camera, but he does remember fondly it was in high school when his dad gave him an old 35mm camera. It was then that he began taking photography seriously.
Rudin’s photography really took off when he began traveling the world in his college days. Back then, he used 35mm color slide film, to be followed by larger medium format transparency film.
The biggest change in Dave Rudin’s photography career came in 1995 when he began photographing nudes. It was something very different from what he had ever done before and for the first time his photographic eye was truly wide open.
While his travel and nude photos are similar in that they share a common vision, the two are very different in one manner; travel photography is reactive, while his nude work is proactive.
