The Wonderful World of Bill Ward King of the Glamour Girls Bill Ward’s long career as a pin-up artist began during the troubled days of World War II when he created a buxom lady named Torchy for his soldier pals. His creations where the perfect match for a postwar community starved of any sexual appetites for far too long – curvy blondes stuffed into black nylon stockings, high heels, and satin gowns.
In the late 50’s, the boom of men’s magazines made Bill Ward one of the most popular artists of his time which allowed him the freedom in his later years to explore a broader range of fetish themes. Though Bill Ward died in 1998 his work remains a rare and treasured collectable causing editor Eric Kroll to search through countless American archives to bring readers a complete collection of his timeless work. The volume includes over 600 illustrations along with interviews from friends, family, employers, and even some of the women who inspired him.
