Nude Photography Notebook
Inspiration, Ideas, Photographs and Techniques Allan Jenkins and Eddie EphraumsIt’s very rare now days for a publication to really attempt to do something different. Nude Photography Notebook does just that by acting as both a showcase for world renowned nude photographer Allan Jenkins, and doubling as a motivational tool with uplifting and informative text with the sole purpose in mind of inspiring the reader. The fusion is surprisingly effective with food for thought such as, “the abstract body, even when nude, will find a way of clothing itself.”
Writer Eddie Eharaums has chronicled the artist at work through all the stages of image-making, from the concept to the final exhibition print. It is an oddly voyeuristic feeling taking a peek into the mind of a working artist and the reader is offered additional sketches, contact sheets, proof prints, and comments from the photographer’s own notebooks. Nude Photography Notebook doesn’t reveal any well guarded secrets of the photography world, but it does make for some very interesting reading all the same.
