Shoot, Student shoot!

We call ourselves The New Nude, but still we embrace the old masters. What we represent have existed since the beginning of photography. Many of the photos featured in The New Nude are already classics. Some of the photographers portrayed are already six feet under. So what is new?

In 1951, at the age of 62, Charlie Chaplin made one of his finest films Limelight. He became father to his 11th child at the mature and developed age of 73. At 77 he directed Marlon Brando and Sophia Loren in the movie A Countess in Hong Kong. Ripeness is the key word. Great artistry requires life experience. Long live the elder.

Victor Skrebneski, at the advanced age of 77, is our main photographer in this issue. His iconic work has influenced the world of photography for over 50 years, and the favorite word at his studio is “NEXT!”. Admirable.

Our last issue we dedicated to Helmut Newton. He was also ripe. So not having to rename our mag to The Old Nude, I would like to announce a challenge. All students currently enrolled in a photography program around the world; submit your nudes to us!!! Let us represent you and make your teacher proud. Email your work to my address below, and we will consider you for our coming issue dedicated to the students of photography and the rising stars of the nude genre. The deadline is in December this year. Get published in 23 countries and let's see if the time is ripe for a change of generations.

“We think too much and feel too little.” Charlie Chaplin said. This is also my advice to you photography students and enthusiasts out there. Don't let the gear and your mind block for your visions. Great photography is made while you are free falling.
